Hi Zoomies,
Just a little update on our Little Garden. I took our plant babies home and they are sprouting and growing happily. I think they miss all the attention they get from you though! Some will even be big enough for us to plant in our school gardens soon. That's a bit exciting!
See you in a week,
Erin

Week 9, Term 3
This week we farewell our lovely new friend, Jason. We hope you have a great time at your new school. We're really going to miss you.
Lots of our seeds have sprouted this week which we're all VERY excited about! We learnt what the word germinated means.

Week 8, Term 3
This week we had Maiya start in the Zoom Room with us. Welcome Maiya!
On Monday we got a special delivery from School Kit and New World. They sent the Zoom Room and LC1 some seeds to grow. We planted them on Monday morning and have been watering them twice a day hoping to see sprouts. On Thursday our Rocket seeds had sprouted. We were all very excited!

Week 6, Term 3
This week we have been inspired by our bean seeds growing taller and taller. We read Jack and the Bean Stalk and then made this display so we could retell the story in our own words. It's been fun saying "fee fi fo fum!" and moving the characters arounds.
(Activities like this are especially good for encouraging the students to retell stories and sequence events in order)

Week 4, Term 3
This week our bean seeds started to grow. We have been fascinated by how they sprouted. We have enjoyed being able to watch the seed starting to grow in the glass jar. Now we know what must be happening under the soil in our big pot!
We have watched some time lapse videos of seeds growing. Erin explained that time lapse means lots of photos or videos have been sped up so we can see the process faster.
Aiden said "Otherwise we would be sitting here for days!"

Week 3, Term 3
This week we planted some seeds in a big pot on our nature table. Erin kept it a secret what the seeds will grow into so we have to wait and see! We took turns looking at the seeds and holding them. Then we planted them in the pot using a trowel and gave them a big drink of water. They are going to live on our nature table. We also put a seed in a jar with some tissue paper and water so we can watch the seed start to grow.
"It looks like a Jelly Bean" - Eloise
"It looks like a tiger!" - Rhys
"It might grow a sunflower" - Casey
"The black seed might grow a black flower" - Becky
"I think the black seed will turn into a blackberry and the other seed will grow an acorn tree" - Aiden
"We need to the seeds some water" - Miguel
During brainfood we spend ten minutes having a healthy snack while we listen to a story, share news, watch learning related videos (butterfly life cycle, phonics/letter sounds, addition facts) or sing songs. We have been singing nursery rhymes as these help us learn about rhythm and rhyme in reading. A clear favourite is 'Sing a Rainbow'. Below is a little clip of the Zoom Room singing along.
